Different Valve Body Materials Are Suitable For Different Working Conditions

There are many different kinds of valve body materials suitable for a variety of different working conditions.
Commonly used body material has the following nine categories:
1. Gray cast iron. It is suitable for those low-pressure valve with working temperature between15 ℃ and 200 ℃, nominal pressure PN 1.6 MPa or less.
2. Blackheart malleable cast iron. It is suitable for those middle or low pressure valve with the working temperature between 15℃ and 250 ℃, nominal pressure PN 2.5 MPa or less.
3. Nodular cast iron. It is suitable for those middle or low pressure valve in working temperature between 30 ℃ and 350 ℃, nominal pressure PN 4.0 MPa or less.
4. Carbon steel (WCA, WCB, WCC). It is suitable for middle and high pressure valves in working temperature between - 29 ℃ and 425 ℃, including 16 Mn, 30Mn in working temperature between- 40 ℃ and 450 ℃, commonly use ASTM A105 to replace it.
5. Low temperature carbon steel (LCB). It is suitable for cryogenic valves in working temperature between - 46℃ and 345 ℃.
6. Alloy steel (WC6, WC9). It suitable for high temperature and high pressure valve of non-corrosive medium in working temperature between - 29 ~ + 595 ℃; WC5, WC12 is suitable for corrosive medias of high temperature and high pressure valve in working temperature between - 29℃ and 650℃;
7. Austenitic stainless steel. It is suitable for those valves with resistance to corrosion medium in working temperature between - 196 ~ + 600 ℃.
8. Monel alloy. It is mainly suitable for the valves contain hydrogen fluoride medium.
9. Cast bronze alloys.It is suitable for the valves for oxygen pipeline in working temperature between 273 ℃ and 273 ℃.
These are main types of commonly used valve body material and each type of specific materials has many different grades. Also, a variety of different types are applicable to different pressure ratings. Therefore, when choosing the valve body material, people should consider different purposes and different pressure ratings to determine the valve body material that suitable for the working condition.

In addition, the body material includes titanium alloy (titanium valve) and aluminum (aluminum valve); Plastic (plastic valve); Ceramic (ceramic valve) and so on.
